For every mile covered, 100 calories are burned while running. If the intensity of your running is high or if you’re overweight, more than 100 calories will be burned. Depending on your speed 200 to 300 calories can be burned while running for 20 minutes.

Jogging is also an easy exercise to perform and a good amount of calories can be burned. According to studies, to reduce one pound of weight you have to burn 3500 calories. Therefore, if 500 calories are burned while jogging every day, in a week you will lose one pound. If you’re weight is between 105 to 121 pounds, 8.6 calories will be burned per minute while jogging. For people who weigh 122 to 148 pounds, 9.2 calories are burned per minute . For those between 149 to 175 pounds, 11.5 calories are burned per minute. As you increase the intensity of your jogging the number of calories burned will increase.

Calories Burned Walking

For an average person walking at a moderate speed, 4 calories will be burned per minute. For a man whose weight is 170 to 180 pounds or a woman between 150 to 160 pounds, 4 calories will be burned while walking at a speed of 3 miles per hour. The number of calories burned while walking will increase to 5 if a man who weighs 190 pounds walks at the speed of 4 miles per hour.

Calories Burned While Swimming And Exercising

Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise and helps a person to remain fit and loose weight. There are different swimming styles and each one burns off a different number of calories per lap or per hour.

The number of calories burned while swimming depends on your weight and the speed at which you swim. You can burn approximately 450 to 700 calories an hour when you perform freestyle laps. When you do it at a faster speed you can burn off 150 calories more. Of all the strokes in swimming, the butterfly stroke helps in burning the most number of calories. Performing this stroke can burn 650 to 900 calories an hour. The number of calories burned while swimming also depends on the kind of water you’re swimming in. Fewer calories will be burned swimming in calm water than when you’re swimming against the current.

Basically the number of calories burned while exercising will depend on your body frame, weight, height, and duration and intensity of your workout.
