Therefore, when a person walks on a treadmill, the body weight needs to be entered. Based on the walking speed and duration, the treadmill can accurately calculate the calories that have been burnt. Apart from a treadmill, you can also use a pedometer to know how many calories you have burnt. A pedometer is a device that you strap to your waist, before walking. It calculates the steps per mile and your weight, to give you the calories burnt.

Therefore, a person weighing 150 pounds can burn around 90 to 100 calories while jogging. A person who weighs more, will burn more than that, while a lighter person burns less than that.
