People of all ages are known to engage in physical activities such as walking, swimming, cycling, running and jogging for fitness purposes. With all the various options for exercising that are available to people today, it could be a bit of a challenge to choose the one or two that are the best. Two of the most effective forms of exercise for weight loss, strength building and better overall fitness are running and jogging. Both running and jogging are aerobic exercises that can have an affect on the heart, bones and muscles. However, the main difference between running and jogging is the pace. Since running is defined by a pace of about 9 minutes per mile the level of physical ability required by runners is generally much higher.

Beginning running jogging

Several people, especially beginners, who decide to start a running program, tend to walk-jog-run during the workout session. Health experts also state that it is not possible to directly start running or jogging for a 30 minutes session on the first day. In order to start running jogging and stay motivated in the long run, it is best to begin slowly. In the first week, the thirty minute session should include mainly walking at a brisk pace, without causing any exertion to the body. In the second week, after walking for four minutes, a one minute run session can be inserted at well timed intervals. Another option is that people can walk for a minute and jog for thirty seconds and keep alternating between the two, till the 30 minutes are up. Of course, before a person can start running jogging, it is best to consult a fitness expert about the most appropriate running jogging shoes.

Running jogging weight loss

Both running and jogging are excellent calorie burners, which make them very effective for weight loss. However, it is only natural for anybody to wonder which activity can help burn calories at a faster rate. There are several factors that influence the number of calories that are burned in a particular session, be it running or jogging. A person’s weight, age gender, height and physical fitness all play an important role in the mount of calories that are burned. Studies indicate that an average male weighing 120 pounds can burn up to 400 calories while jogging for an hour; all other factors remaining the same, the same person can burn more than 500 calories an hour by running. Therefore, running to lose weight may be more beneficial than jogging
