Yoga Exercise For Hydrocele Problem

Let’s understand what hydrocele testis is, before we look at yoga postures to help this problem.

Hydrocele:

Hydrocele testis happens when clear fluid accumulates in the tunica vaginalis, the internal membranes that house the testicle. While, a primary hydrocele is painless and just enlarges one side of the scrotum; a secondary hydrocele is generally an inflammation in the testis. Hydrocele usually happens on one side. Hydrocele may happen to infants too.

Symptoms:

A hydrocele is smooth and generally occurs in the front of the testes. A fluid filled ball, hydroceles are most of the times harmless and also painless. If a hydrocele is large, then it can cause discomfort.

Treatment:

A hydrocele is generally removed through surgery. Known as hydrocelectomy, the procedure involves excising the tunica vaginalis, draining the fluid and then suturing the edges of the tunica, so that the fluid doesn’t accumulate again. In some cases, the fluid is aspirated, though there are chances of recurrence.

Yoga Asanas To Cure Hydrocele:

There are a few yoga postures that can give you some relief if you have a hydrocele. You will have to try these postures daily and see if this can help cure it. If these postures do not cure your hydrocele, you may have to opt for surgery.

Vajrasana (Thunderbolt Posture):

Vajrasana is supposed to be a good position for healing hydrocele. A pose for meditation, Vajrasana keeps the body erect, improves digestion, strengthens the pelvic muscles and provides respite from the hydrocele. The Thunderbolt posture can also prevent hernia and can treat sciatica pain and sacral infections. You must practice this pose for seven minutes every day.

Pavanamuktasana (Wind Relieving Posture):

A posture which is done in a seated position, Pavanamuktasana is said to provide relief to those who have hydroceles. This exercise should be done regularly.

Surya-Namaskar (Seated Sun Salutation):

This position can be done on a chair and is said to bring relief from aches and pains. It is especially good for hydroceles. Practice Surya-namaskar a few times every day to improve your lymphatic circulation. This posture improves the air and blood circulation in the testicles.

Garudhasana (Eagle Pose):

This yoga pose is good for the kidneys and for hydrocele problems. This posture is also strengthens the limbs, arms, bones and the nerves.

Breath Work:

Pranayama, which improves one’s breathing and intake of oxygen is said to be good for hydrocele problems. Five minutes of pranayama every day can improve the circulation in your testicles.
