Odor in the urine can be most upsetting and cause a lot of concern. Yet, there is no reasons to fret as you can cure urine odor with no hassles.

What causes urine odor? Odor in the urine can be the tell-tale signs of the beginning of a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). This is a general term which is given to any infection formed in the urinary system, resulting in bacteria and pus being present in the urine.  UTI is the most common source of odor in the urine. It is more prevalent in women as their urethra is shorter, making them prone to infection. Another cause could be an inflammation of the urethra, in which case urine will appear to be clear or cloudy. Strong odors in the urine can also be caused because of dehydration.

What are the remedies? Home remedies are the best for treating urine odor. To begin with you should abstain from wearing tight clothing. Opt for skin-friendly fabrics like cotton. The most effective remedy is to drink plenty of plain water. You can also drink lemon juice or diluted fruit juice so as to pass more urine. When you drink more water, your body is able to effectively flush out toxins and the odor will eventually disappear. Cranberry juice will help in clearing the toxins and healing the urinary tract. Eating cranberries is equally effective. Another good remedy is to add yogurt or one to two spoons of natural honey to fresh juice.

Add one to two spoons of cumin seeds to four to five liters of water and boil it. You can drink this water through the day. This will clear the harmful waste and remove urine odor. You can also try butter milk with a little crushed ginger and some onion to flush the system and heal any infection present in the urinary tract.

Take half a teaspoon of baking soda and mix it with four liters of boiled water and sip it through the day. You can also drink one to two glasses of barley water to treat urine odor. Do not drink too much of this as it might make you dehydrated.

Above all, the important thing is to ensure personal hygiene. Avoid wearing tight clothes on a regular basis. Wear comfortable cotton under wear and change into dry ones as needed. Avoid panty liners to avoid further infection.  Follow a healthy diet and keep your body well hydrated.
