Urinary Tract Infection and Urine Smell

Urine odor can be a condition which causes a great deal of unpleasantness and is a reason for concern as well. The onset of a urinary tract infection is the most common cause for the presence of an smell in the urine. Generally speaking, all infections occurring in the urinary tract, leading to the presence of bacteria and pus in the urine, are referred to as urinary tract infections. It is a condition that is most commonly prevalent in women. This is due to the fact that the urethra in women is shorter, which makes them vulnerable to infections. Another likely reason could be an inflammation in the urethra, which leads to a cloudy or milky appearance of the urine. Dehydration is also known to be a causative factor for the presence of foul urine odor.

Home Remedies For Urinary Tract Infections

There are several home remedies that can be used for the prevention of odor in the urine. Firstly, it is advisable to refrain from wearing excessively tight fitting inner clothing. Ideally, the best option would be to choose natural fabrics such as cotton which are more comfortable for the skin. Importantly, women afflicted by urinary tract infections are recommended to avoid wearing panty liners as this can lead to further infections. The body needs to be well hydrated and hence you should ensure that you drink plenty of water.

Odor in the urine is also caused due a build up of toxic waste in the body. Drinking fresh lemon juice and juices of other fresh fruits helps in flushing out these harmful toxins, thus reducing or completely eliminating odor from the urine. Juices also help keep the body cool and hydrated at all times. Another effective remedy is to drink fresh cranberry juice, which is believed to be useful in aiding the healing process of the urinary tract as well as the removal of toxins from the body. Eating a whole cranberry in the form of fruit is also known to be as effective. The benefits of consuming fresh juice are increased if you add around two spoonfuls of honey and yogurt to it, instead of sugar or sucrose. Another potent folk remedy is to take about two spoons of cumin seeds and boil them in about five liters of water. The solution when cooled is believed to aid in the healing of the urinary tract. It is advisable to sip this solution throughout the day. The solution is very effective in clearing the toxic waste in the system and eradicating the odor from the urine. Unsweetened butter milk too works just as well, in flushing the system and healing the infection in the urinary tract, when consumed with some mashed ginger and onions.
