Home Treatment For Bacterial Vaginosis
All of us have our own unique body odor, which means that a certain amount of vaginal odor will always be present. However, if the level of this odor increases or becomes “fishy” then chances are that you are suffering from an infection known as bacterial vaginosis. The exact reason behind this infection is not known, but a lot of women suffer from this infection. To take care of this problem at home, here are few things that you can do. Start off by making some permanent changes to your basic hygienic habits. If you have not been doing it so far, start off by either trimming your pubic hair or else, if you are comfortable with it, shaving off the pubic hair. Hair not only traps the urine that is passed out but also the effluence odors. It is therefore a good idea to get rid of this hair. Next, this area of our body is located at the juncture of our thighs and is surrounded by multiple folds. When we sweat, the sweat gets accumulated in these folds very easily. In such a situation, if you wear synthetic panties then the sweat will not get absorbed, it will add more to the odor. It is therefore highly advisable to wear only cotton panties. Also, do not wear used panties without washing them first. Even if you have worn them for a short time, wash them before you wear them again. If the odor is too strong, change your panties at least two to three times a day. Use panty liners if you can - it will be easier for you to change these in the course of the day then changing the panties themselves.
Make sure that the clothes that you wear on your lower body are loose, sweat absorbent, and comfortable. Wash your genital area regularly, but with a mild, preferably scent-free soap. You can add tea tree oil to the water that you use to wash yourself. Tea tree oil has anti-fungal properties that will help in getting rid of the odor. Alternatively, you can also add vinegar to the water that you use to wash yourself. You can also apply cool yogurt to your genital area. Yogurt is full of active bacteria that will help to clear out the infection, and therefore the odor. Keep your genital area as dry as possible, using a medicated powder for this purpose should be of help.
