Causes Of Facial Hair Growth

Excessive growth of thick dark facial hair in women refers to a condition known as hirsutism. Hirsutism can occur due to increased levels of male hormones called androgens in the body. The abnormal hair growth can also develop if the hair follicles are oversensitive to androgens. Polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS is a common hormonal disorder in which hirsutism occurs as one of the symptoms. Hirsutism can also be hereditary. However in many cases the exact cause may not be identifiable. To diagnose the condition better, it is advisable to consult your doctor who can direct you on the best course of treatment based on your blood tests. Usually, hirsutism is a harmless condition, although it can result in significant worry and concern in many women.

Waxing is considered to be the simplest and easiest way of getting rid of unwanted hair. Tweezing and threading are also safe methods of removing facial hair, although they can be time consuming. Bleaching is also a good option if the hair is not too dark or thick. Shaving can also be used in hair removal, but the hair is likely to grow back faster and the skin may also become red and irritated after shaving. This is generally not recommended for facial hair growth in women and it works better on other areas such as the legs or arms. Depilatories work by breaking down the hair structure and dissolving the hair. Irritation may occur for some people, and so it is advisable to do a patch test first. Electrolysis is considered to be a permanent hair removal method, but it is expensive and needs repeated treatments. Laser hair removal is also superior to other forms of hair removal but it is not permanent and can cause skin discoloration, inflammation and infected hair follicles.

Remedies For Facial Hair Removal

There are certain home remedies that also could be used for hair removal. You could apply a paste of sugar, lemon and water in the direction of the hair growth and rinse after 10-15 minutes. A mask can also be made of a mixture of 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice and 4 teaspoons of honey and applied in the direction of the hair growth. To bleach and lighten the hair, you could also apply a paste of 2 teaspoon of fresh lime juice and ½ teaspoon of sugar, 3-4 times a week for about two months. Another remedy can also be made by mixing turmeric powder with milk. Apply this to your face and scrub it off slowly using circular motions.
