Tips To Get Piece Of Glass Out
Putting a band aid on such an injury would be useful when the injury is bleeding. Once the bleeding has stopped, it is recommended that you remove the covering. Firstly, any hope of the piece being visible to the surface is eliminated if the wound is covered. Secondly, since your wound still has a piece of glass in it, keeping it covered will allow bacteria to multiply as bacteria enjoy warm and humid environments. The first move therefore would be to remove the band aid. As a general health tip, apply a small amount of antiseptic on the wound or a natural antiseptic substance like turmeric.
Use a bright light on the area to provide yourself with clear visibility. You can also use a magnifying glass if the piece is small. Better visibility is always recommended when dealing with splinters or shards of glass. If the glass is visible from the surface, you can use a variety of adhesive substances to remove the piece. Apply any sticky tape, such as scotch tape on the area, and rub it gently so that it sticks to the piece of glass. Then rip off the tape quickly to get rid of the piece. Another way of approaching this is by using the technique used by women when waxing. Using traditional body wax and a waxing cloth apply a small amount of warm wax on the area. Cover this area with a small waxing cloth. The piece of cloth should be bigger than the area affected with extra left on either side to make it easy to pull off. Rub this cloth gently to smoothen it over the area. This is to make sure it touches the piece of glass. Rapidly rip the cloth off and wash the area. Check if the piece is still imbedded.
If none of these work, or if the piece is not visible from the surface, you may try to wash the area thoroughly with soap and water, squeezing around the area which has the glass piece in it. This squeezing, along with the soap and water, may result in the piece moving closer to the surface. If this does not work either, and especially if the piece is extremely small, you may want to wait over night if the piece is not causing you immediate discomfort. Try the methods to remove the piece in the morning. If none of these remedies work, it is recommended that you visit your doctor for professional help at the earliest.
