Allergic Reactions
An allergic reaction to tape would indicate that you are probably getting rashes and irritation on the extremities like the hands. You will need to immediately change the brand of tape that you are using and possibly also consider wearing gloves when are working with tape. You might also want to consider that the itch and rash is a result of the hair being pulled of when the tape accidentally sticks to your hands, though is not a valid conclusion if your rash is occurring on the palms of your hand.
Skin Allergic Reactions Symptoms - Hives And Rashes
An allergic reaction is your body’s heightened immune system response to a common irritant. This can be better explained in the context of a pollen allergy. Pollen is always present in the air and is especially so in the flowering season of springtime. When there is excessive pollen in the air, it is inevitable that humans would breathe in some of it. Some of us can have an immune reaction to it when the body mistakes a pollen grain for a pathogen like bacteria. The body then recreates the same reaction as a foreign pathogen would, which is called an inflammation causing the secretion of mucus and swelling. In the case of skin allergies, the manifestation is in the form of hives and rashes. In some forms of skin allergies and autoimmune diseases, the skin will spontaneously turn into eczema. This is an irritating and itchy patch of skin that is inflamed. The itching then causes further problems by allowing more of the allergen into the skin as well as possibly creating a medium for infectious bacteria. Bacteria and fungi are always present on the skin and opportunistic bacteria like staphylococcus will usually not cause infections on unbroken skin, but when the opportunity of invading the interior of the body occurs, it will become more aggressive. This opportunity occurs because of scratching the skin to a point that it breaks. This is why you should never scratch a rash.
The first part of treatment starts with wearing gloves. This will confirm whether the allergy is actually caused by the glue of the tape or whether there is an environmental allergen in the air. Allergies are quite unpredictable in their behavior and sometimes the smell of the glue can cause the condition to occur – oddly possible in the hand as well. If the reaction does not happen then all you have to do is to wear gloves when you work with tape.
