Since a primary cause of eye twitching is increased stress levels, it is essential to avoid day to day stress, both physically, (esp. to your eyes) and mentally. Ensure that you get at least eight hours of sleep everyday as this may be the easiest way to reduce eye twitching. You can splash cold water on your eyes every four hours to help soothe your eye muscles and to help control twitching. A cold compress for your eyes in the morning may also be very beneficial for eye twitching. Alternatively, you can place a slice of cucumber on your eye to help soothe the muscles that are twitching. Avoid drinks that contain caffeine and avoid consuming alcohol to help control eye twitching. Take frequent breaks while spending long hours in front of the computer as this is an important method of reducing stress caused to your eyes. Massage your eyes during these breaks using your fingers in a clockwise and then anti-clockwise motion at least twenty times. This will ensure greater blood circulation around your eyes and will help reduce eye twitching.
