Premature Gray Hair Causes - Lack of Melanin and Vitamins

Even though 27 is quite a young age for graying, these days it’s not an uncommon phenomenon. Hair turns gray naturally as we age because of the lack of production of the pigment melanin, which determines the color of our hair. However, in some people the melanin production decreases earlier than it should and the person’s hair becomes gray. This is called premature graying. You need to first understand what is making your hair gray prematurely. There are many reasons, the main one being inadequate nutrition which in turn causes the deficiency of nutrients like Vitamin B, iron, copper, and iodine. Other major reasons are stress, anxiety, tension, frustration, and other such psychological problems. If you want to prevent your hair from graying further, you need to be physically and mentally relaxed, and also pay attention to your diet. Get all the required nutrients from green leafy vegetables, and fresh fruits and vegetables.

Gray Hair Treatment

There are some other factors like overexposure to the sun and pollution that damage the hair. Protect your hair from the elements by covering it with a cap when you step out. Dryness of the hair also strips it of its color. Keep your hair well moisturized all the time by drinking lots of water. The other way of doing this would be to oil it regularly. Also, avoid excessive consumption of junk food, tea, coffee, alcohol, sour and acidic foods. Getting enough rest and sleep, and a regular regime of exercise would also keep your hair healthy for a long time.

Gray Hair Remedies

If you correct your lifestyle, you will see good results. And, then you can combine that with some easy remedies. One of the most effective products is curry leaves. Whether you take it in form of food or boil it in coconut oil and massage your scalp with it, it works wonders in treating premature graying. Additionally, curry leaves strengthen the hair roots as well. Another remedy you can try is applying fresh lemon juice on to your scalp and letting it remain for about 30 minutes. Then, massage your scalp with warm coconut oil and keep it on for about an hour. After that, wash your hair with a mild shampoo. If followed everyday, this remedy will work on prematurely graying hair and also prevent dandruff. Other than the massages, you can also take one teaspoon of grated fresh ginger mixed with honey everyday. Drinking buttermilk with two teaspoons of wheat germ and yeast each is also beneficial.
