How To Remove Mucus Effectively
In some really bad cases of persistent mucus in the throat, the problem could be draining of the mucus. Sometimes, when there is mucus in the sinus tract, it becomes extremely difficult to drain it so that it can easily and successfully exit from the body. If antibiotics or steroids are in use, then the mucus is made to dry up on the inside without being allowed to come out of the body completely. If this should happen, this feeling of a persistently wet throat can be permanent and irritating. One of the best ways to get rid of it effectively is to use methods that will allow it to drain easily. A lot of steaming will help with removing even the last remnants of the cold from the throat. If possible, add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the liquid so that the sinuses can open up and start flowing. The combination of high heat and mentholated oil such as that of eucalyptus, additionally soothed by the moisture should be helpful in getting the last of the mucus to come out from the throat as well. Apart from this, there are a few other kitchen solutions that can be very useful as well.
Make an infusion of a cup of water to which a stick of cinnamon and ginger, and a couple of cloves, cardamoms and peppercorns has been added. Boil this and let it steep once it has reached boiling point. It should be lukewarm when it is consumed. It is also important to keep sipping warm liquids so that the throat is constantly being cleared out. This will also be useful as it will soothe the throat a lot. Adding a few drops of honey to this warm water will be just as good. Make and bottle a mixture of equal amounts of honey and ginger juice and keep licking this. It will be extremely helpful in removing the mucus from the throat. It is also a good idea to repeatedly clear the throat with deep and pushy coughs and then spit out whatever comes into the mouth from the throat. This is better than clearing and swallowing the spit and mucus, which in turn goes nowhere. Make a drink with two glasses of water to which a tablespoon of thymol seeds have been added and then boiled to reduce it to half. This will help to clear the mucus and release it via stools.
