Blind Pimple home remedy: How do I get rid of a painful blind pimple?
A blind pimple is the more common terminology used to describe a case of acne that formed a papule instead of a pustule. A pustule is the more visible form of acne that is also called a pimple. The mechanism of formation of a papule or a pustule is the same and with treatment, the objective is to convert the papule into a pustule that is easier to deal with. The common misconception and instinct is to try and squeeze a blind pimple but this may not be easy and you could end up with scarring because of it as well. A collection of cured blind pimples can leave deep scars like ravines in the skin or craters because of the loss of tissue from infections.
A pimple forms when, due to bodily hormones, sebum – a waxy and oily substance secreted by the sebaceous glands of the skin is produced in amounts that are not easily ejected out into the pores. This forms a pool of sebum and can clog the pores when mixed with dead skin cells or dirt. The resulting blockage invites bacterial growth, which becomes an infection and when the white blood cells come to the aid of the skin, a white pustule can be visible. Left alone, this will go away. However, in the case of a papule or a blind pimple, the infection is so deep in the skin that a “head” is not formed. When there is an occurrence like this, the first course of action would be to start cleaning the area by applying salicylic acid to the area. Salicylic acid is the active ingredient of most pimple and face clearing formulations that are available over the counter and should be easy to get a hold of and allows for free movement of sebum to the surface.
This by itself may not be enough so the objective now would be to bring the papule out to the surface as a pustule. Dip a piece of cotton into hot water and then place the cotton on the affected area and repeat this procedure a few times until either a pustule forms on the swelling or the blind pimple goes away. This may not happen immediately and may have to be repeated for a few days until it does. Once it does reach the surface, it will dry out and you will be pimple free.
