Simple Tips To Unplug Ears
Plugged ears can be an annoying problem, which although not serious, can bring discomfort in day to day life. Accumulation of wax in the ear can cause the ears to get plugged. Allergies may also lead to blocked or plugged ears. Viral infections such as influenza and the common cold may also cause blockage and discomfort in the ears. High altitudes also have the effect of causing plugged ears. It is also a common occurrence during airplane travel. All these factors may cause fluid accumulation or pressure buildup in the ears which results in the plugging.
If the plugging is caused by earwax, you may make use of cotton buds or Q tips to clean the ear. However it is advisable not to use these excessively as sometimes they may cause the wax to get pushed deeper in the ear. You may take rubbing alcohol and white vinegar in equal proportions and put a couple of drops of this mixture in the effected ear twice daily. This should work well in drying the wax. If wax build up persists you may need to consult a doctor.
An effective remedy for easing the pressure in the ear is to chew gum. Yawning also helps to relax the muscles and release the pressure. You may also try holding your nose and blowing gently from it. This serves to expel the pressure from the ears. If the plugged ears are the results of an allergy, taking the appropriate anti- allergy medication will help to ease the problem. Sucking on some hard lozenges may also help to clear any blockage present in the ear. Another good natural remedy is to put a few drops of warm olive oil in each ear. It is important not to use any pins or sharp objects like needles or pencils to clean the ears. This will only serve to cause further injury and aggravate the condition. Warm baby oil helps to soften and loosen any wax build-up in the ears. Hydrogen Peroxide too can be used to flush out any debris from the ear. Swallowing repeatedly can also help to push the air out of the ear canal, thereby unplugging the ears. Exposing the ear to steam from hot water will help to clear out the ear canal and relieve pressure. You may also boil some cloves in sesame oil and use these as ear drops a couple of times daily.
