Premature ejaculation could cause a major setback to a man’s ego and there are a number of men suffering from this condition. It could be rather difficult to provide a set definition for premature ejaculation since the period of sexual intercourse can vary from anywhere between three to even twenty minutes. While some men may require medication to treat their problem, most men will benefit by performing certain exercises and by better communication with their partners.

Yoga is a very effective form of treatment for premature ejaculation because it deals with both the mind and the body and because psychological factors play a big part in causing premature ejaculation.

Yoga poses or asanas start with pranayama, a meditative technique that is very effective in reducing stress levels. The focus is on your breath and learning to observe and control it can help you to control your body during sexual intercourse. Learning to control your breathing during sex can help you to delay having an orgasm.

Other yoga poses that are helpful in cases of sexual dysfunction including premature ejaculation include Dhanurasana or Bow Pose, Bhadrasana or butterfly pose, Sarvangasana or Shoulder Stand Pose, Mayurasana or Peacock Pose, Halasana or Plough Pose, Bhujangasana or Cobra Pose and Paschimottanasana or Seated Forward Bend Pose. To learn these poses it is advisable for you to join a yoga class under the direction of an experienced instructor.

Home Remedies:

  • Learning to recognize your body’s signals as you approach the moment of ejaculation is important if you want to delay it. You can practice it while masturbating. As you approach the moment of ejaculation, stop stroking yourself and wait for the sensation to subside. While this may seem difficult initially, practice will make it easier. This will help you to slow down while approaching orgasm during intercourse and delay the moment of ejaculation.
  • One very effective technique to delay ejaculation is to stop thrusting just before achieving an orgasm. Then tighten your abdominal muscles and wait for the feeling to subside before resuming thrusting again. Practice this technique while masturbating before trying it during sex.
  • Another home remedy that helps deal with premature ejaculation includes drinking a glass of water mixed with half a teaspoon baking soda and a quarter teaspoon of potassium citrate. This needs to be drunk every day for about two weeks in order to lessen anxiety and prevent premature ejaculation.
  • In addition to general yoga, you could also try some specific natural remedies for improving your ability to maintain an erection and enjoy a healthy orgasm. Almond milk has been a traditional drink long associated with increased potency. Soak about a dozen almonds overnight and then blend them in a glass of milk with a pinch of saffron and ginger, creating a powerful morning drink.
  • You could also try having half a teaspoon of ginseng with milk; this Far East medicinal root is believed to increase immunity and potency. For a topical remedy, try massaging your penis with warm mustard oil to improve blood circulation.
  • You can also use this massage to practice the ‘start and stop’ method of controlling your ejaculation. This consists of stopping all stimulation when you are about to ejaculate, waiting for the feeling to pass, before continuing. Try to practice this 3-4 times before finally achieving orgasm
  • Kegel exercises are also very beneficial in helping you gain voluntary control over your ejaculation.

While premature ejaculation could be a major problem, it is important that you take time and discuss these issues with your partner. Communication and mutual respect are also key to enjoying a long, healthy sexual relationship.
