Scabies is a skin condition that is caused due to an infestation of scabies mites. The mites that are responsible for this skin ailment are termed Sarcoptes scabiei. These mites are very minute and thus are not visible to the naked eye. They burrow under our skin and cause a tremendous itching sensation that tends to worsen during the night. This condition is highly contagious and can be transmitted from person to person through close contact or even sharing of items, such as clothes or bed linen. The rash that is produced from this condition resembles tiny red bumps or blisters that affect particular parts of the body. The hands, wrists, neck, face, elbows, knees are just some of the area that one may develop this rash. An unrelenting itch is one of the most common symptoms of scabies. It may begin in a subtle manner, gradually getting worse over the days till it reaches such a stage, that one may face a difficulty while sleeping on account of the itch.
Get Rid of Scabies Using Home Treatment
There are, however, several home remedies that one can implement to get rid of this condition. Extract the juice of a few apricot leaves and apply it on the affected area. Let the application remain on the skin for some time before you wash it off. It will help reduce the itching and will also soothe the skin. The skin of onions is highly effective in treating scabies as it contains quercetin. This ingredient has a very cooling and soothing effect when applied onto the skin. Take 3-4 onions and boil the skins in 2 cups of water for about 30 minutes. Once the mixture has cooled substantially, apply a generous layer on the skin and let it stay on for a good 20 minutes after which you may rinse it off.
Home Remedies To Get Rid of Scabies Mites
Another very effective remedy is the use of walnuts. They contain a chemical called juglone, which deals with scabies causing mites. Take a few walnuts and boil them in 3 cups of water. Let the solution boil till it has reached half of its original amount; the two cups of water should be reduced to one cup. Let the solution cool after which apply it on your skin. Aloe vera gel, evening primrose oil and oil of star anise can also be applied to the rash directly. All three are known to help treat this condition efficiently.
