Learn How To Get Rid Of Acne Scabs Naturally

By Patricia | July 27, 2009

A scab formation is a natural part of a wound healing on the skin. It consists of dead skin and the remnants of a blood clot. You need not worry too much and ideally, if you do nothing, the scab will fall off and there will be fresh skin underneath; although, the skin beneath would be hyperpigmented for sometime.

Acne Scabs

The correct way to deal with acne is to ensure that the pores of the skin are not blocked by dead skin or bacteria. When the pores are blocked, bacteria infections occur and cause a pustule or a pimple to form. Pimples usually contain a white thick fluid, which are the body’s neutrophil cells that are part of the body’s attack against bacterial infection. The correct way to ensure that the skin pores are not blocked is by using salicylic acid. This is a very common over the counter preparation that is used in most face washing and cleansing solutions. Salicylic acid works by breaking down skin protein, thus making it fall off. It also has an antibiotic effect to deal with bacteria. Never deal with acne roughly. The skin on the face is some of the most sensitive skin in the whole body and a small perforation on skin surface will cause infections immediately.

Home Remedies

To deal with scabs, the first thing that you have to do is to make it invisible while it slowly flakes off. Do this by applying a moisturizing cream that contains tea tree oil in it. The need for tea tree oil lies in the fact that all microbial infection must be eliminated from an area of a wound before moisturizing it. The next step is to wash your face with salicylic acid or lemon juice. Lemon juice is also a good substitute for salicylic acid and can even be a bit stronger also. Do not rub too hard over the area of the scab and just use your hand to scrape off and ends that can easily come off. Pat your skin dry and continue this ritual until the scab is completely gone. The next step is to deal with any black marks that might remain where the scab was. This requires the use of lemon juice, onion juice and salicylic acid again, this time used in unison. First, wash the face with salicylic acid and then wash the face. Then, apply some lemon juice mixed with onion juice to the area. Onion juice can be derived by dicing some onions and squeezing the juice out of them. Apply this as you would layers of paint by waiting for one application to dry first and then apply the second. This needs to be done for a few weeks before you see complete results.
