When you eat food, it is shot down the esophagus – or foodpipe – into your stomach. The stomach has two valves that control the entry of food into it – the esophageal sphincter – and the exit of food from the stomach – the pyloric sphincter. This is because the stomach has cells called parietal cells that are able to break down sodium chloride and water to form hydrochloric acid. This acid is combined with a stomach enzyme called pepsin and the break down of food begins. When acids combine with alkaline material, usually gas is created – much like the reaction that occurs when you pour lemon juice on baking soda. These gases are the first to be expelled from the body in a burp or a belch. The food sits in the stomach for a while before moving on to the duodenum and the small intestines for breakdown by enzymes and intestinal bacteria. This is the second area where gases are created. Gases created here are expelled as flatulence from the rectum. All this movement requires muscles to push food down, which is the reason why you can feel movements. This is modulated by a substance called serotonin that is produced in the intestines.
Excessive Stomach Gas Remedies And Treatment
If there is excessive belching then you are possibly secreting too much acid or are eating foods that break down into gas easily. This is the case with carbonated drinks. Therefore, do not drink carbonated drinks when you are having a meal. Hyperacidity is a problem that can be solved by immediately having some milk, when you feel a pain in the upper part of your stomach near your chest. If there is excessive gas release from the rectum or you are experiencing flatulence, your diet is too rich in fatty foods and polysaccharides. Polysaccharides are very complex sugars in plants and require more bacterial activity to break it down. This increased activity causes flatulence. The same applies for fat. All you have to do is eat softer vegetables like tomatoes and spinach and reduce legume intake.
