Dry Nose: Effective Home Remedy To Treat Dry Nose

Remedy to treat dry nose: The inside of my nose has become very dry and I have pain even when I touch my nose what do I do?

Ideally you should not touch your nose while it is in this condition. The possible reason for this happening is that you are in a place where there is very little humidity and this has caused your skin inside your nose to dry out. There is also a possibility that the skin inside your nose has become raw and this makes it prone to dryness and irritation. This sometimes happens after a bout of cold and if you had to blow your nose many times.

Moisturizing the skin inside your nose will be tricky and ungainly, so you have to try some different tactics. To normally moisturize the skin, one would normally resort to the use of creams and lotions. This cannot be administered in the nose as you would have to pour it in and that would be dangerous. It is best that you stimulate your nose into secreting its own oils and only if that fails you should try to add an external agent to moisturize. The first step is steaming. This is simple procedure where you boil water in a vessel and when the water is adequately boiled just inhale the steam. Alternatively, you can also use a steamer or any other device that emits steam that is used in your kitchen. This should have two effects, firstly the immediate pain and irritation will go away because this immediate moisturizing will make the skin inside you nose a bit more elastic and this will give you some immediate relief. An additional benefit of doing this would be to open up the pores in your skin to force out any blockages.

Should all this fail, then you can resort to some external moisturizing. However, instead of simply just applying some kind of lotion on the inside of your nose and providing a medium for bacterial infection, you should clean the area first. Cleaning should be done only with water. Take a cotton swab, dip it in water and then dab the insides of the nostrils, wait for a few minutes and just as you would clean your ears, use the same motion to clean the inside of your nose. Once you are done with this, use some tea tree oil on another cotton swab and rub it on the insides of your nose. This should give you some immediate relief and also keep your nose bacteria free for a long time. However make sure that the tree tea oil that you are using is diluted as tree tea oil is very strong in nature.
