Dry Cough Cure: How To Soothe Sore Throat Caused By Dry Cough

Natural Cure For Dry Cough

Whenever something irritates our body, it finds a natural way of handling it. So, if it is our throat that is irritated, the best way for our body to handle this is to cough. Now, coughs are essentially divided into two categories – wet cough and dry cough. Wet cough is accompanied by mucus and dry cough is not. As such, this increases the dryness in the throat leading to further coughing. Dry cough usually develops towards the end of a cold, exposure to dust and pollution, exposure to cigarette smoke, allergies, and reaction to certain medications. If your dry cough has lasted longer than 15 days, it would be advisable to consult your local physician immediately. Simultaneously, you can work on taking care of this problem at home as well. Extract the juice of an onion, and in equal proportions mix the onion juice with honey. To turn this mixture into a cough syrup that is effective, leave the mixture overnight. Next day, mix one teaspoon of ginger juice to this mixture, and have this mixture throughout the day, at regular intervals. Onion juice is very effective at taking care of the throat irritation. Another mixture that will take care of the irritation is made out of boiling the leaves of holy basil and lemongrass in one cup of water. Boil this mixture for around 8-10 minutes and then drink it while it is still hot. Thrice a day, gargle your throat with salted, lukewarm water. If the intensity of the dry cough is very high, boil a cup of water and add oregano to it. This will immediately bring down the intensity of the dry cough.

To soothe the coughing, grind 50 grams of raisins in water, and then add the same amount of sugar to it and boil it together. Take one teaspoon of this mixture every night before going off to sleep. Alternatively, every night you can also drink one glass of hot milk after adding half a teaspoon of turmeric to it. Prepare green tea by adding aniseed, cloves, cardamom, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon to it. Drink this mixture only if you can handle the “spicy” flavor. You can also take a piece of ginger, peel its skin, and then suck on it throughout the day to get rid of the coughing. Soak around 12 almonds overnight. Next morning, grind the almonds into a fine paste, add honey to it, and have it thrice a day.
