Cracked Heels Remedy | Peeling Skin | Cracked Heels Treatment

I have severe cracked skin on feet and skin peeling, it is due to I am not using hose?

In a manner of speaking, you are correct about your assumption on why your feet are getting cracked. Your heels and feet are now exposed to elements that will dry out your feet. Cracked feet can also be a result of your skin suddenly coming into contact with hard surfaces and forming a callus. With extreme dehydration and constant wear, feet will become cracked. The cure for this condition is to moisturize your feet everyday and if possible get back to wearing a hose.

The skin is one of the biggest organs of the body and covers you from head to toe. As you would have noticed, the skin in certain parts of the body is different from other types of skin. The foot is a classical example of this difference. The soles of your feet are functionally the same as the palms of your hand. It however contains a thicker layer of skin to withhold the pressure of the weight of the body. The only other difference lies in the fact that nerves of the feet are slightly more sensitive to touch that the palms of the hands – the reason why we are ticklish. Over time, and with continuous use of the feet, the soles of the feet harden by the soft skin tissue retreating into the body leaving behind a large amount of dead skin cells. This is actually a hardened layer of protection otherwise you could get a cut in your foot from simply walking barefoot. This is also known as a callus. Cracking occurs when the level of hydration in skin of the foot is reduced significantly. Now normally, skin prevents the loss of water on it using skin oil called sebum. This is produced by the sebaceous glands, but the soles of the feet have no sebaceous glands and only sweat glands. When you move barefoot in a dry environment, the only source of moisture in the feet is also taken away and cracking is inevitable.

All that you need to do to solve this problem is to put an oily foot cream every night before going to bed. You can also use some aloe vera on the soles of your feet but this could end up being a slippery mess. If your feet are not exposed and are still cracking, increase your water intake along with the above remedies. For the existing problem, all you need to do is to go for a pedicure.
