Acne And Pimples
Ingrown pimples are very similar to abscess within the skin. Since the ingrown pimple is on your neck, is it highly unlikely that the cause of the pimple is a case of acne like on the face. Acne is caused by the action of hormones from puberty and adulthood. During puberty, the sudden rush of hormones into the body in very high quantities causes aberrations like oily skin and, consequently, acne. In adults, this effect is reduced but an increased spurt of the quantities of sex hormone in the body will also cause acne, though not as badly as it does in puberty.
Acne Causes
Acne is caused when the sex hormones of the body stimulate the sebaceous glands of the skin to secrete a substance called sebum. Sebum is high in wax monoesters, triglycerides and fatty acids that give it a consistency of oil. This sebum is excreted from the glands onto the skin via the pores but often something can go wrong with this process. The skin pores are regularly cleaned by the sweat glands but they can be blocked by skin bacterial colonies that aggregate in the pores and dead skin cells. When a pore is blocked, the sebum has no way out and starts to pool beneath the skin where it becomes an ideal bacterial medium. This situation is an infection and the body responds to it by sending neutrophil cells of the white blood cell family to the area. It is because of the high concentration of neutrophil cells that the contents of pimples are white. Yellow indicates that the mixture is mixed with the bacterial populations as well. This is exactly the same process that occurs in an abscess but the only difference is that the infection is deeper within the skin, possibly caused by bacteria permeating deep within the skin. Treating an ingrown pimple requires you to bring the pimple to the surface and also help fight the bacteria by taking antibiotics.
Acne And Pimples Home Remedies
To bring the pimple to the surface of the skin, you can simply apply a hot towel to the region. This will increase the circulation and advance the natural process of the abscess coming to the surface. This could take a few days so in the meantime, rub tea tree oil over the region to ensure it is completely bacteria free and increase your intake of garlic in your diet. Garlic is nature’s natural antibiotic. When the pimple does come to the surface, it is advised that you do not squeeze or break it. Apply some salicylic acid so that the skin layer covering the pus inside is broken and the pus flows out naturally without being forced out.
