What Are Some Good Yoga Techniques
Practicing yoga techniques or postures is practicing both your mind and body. To practice yoga daily it takes lot of perseverance and willpower, but the end result that you get for your hard work is really worth it. Practice the following yoga techniques or exercises or poses to increase your resistance, improve your health and develop your mental awareness as well.
- Warm up poses – Warm up poses are important to make your body ready for all the other yoga poses you intend to practice. Warm up poses can be anything from neck exercises, eye training, shoulder stretches, shoulder lifts, and cat pose. Yoga exercises are powerful activities although they might seem simple. So if you perform any particular exercise incorrectly you might get hurt. Thus warm up exercises are very important to prepare your body for yoga and prevent any yoga related injury to the body.
- Standing Poses – Standing poses forms the foundation for many yoga poses. All the standing poses are very beneficial for the body as they help to increase your strength, flexibility, make you more aware of your posture and invigorate your whole body. Try a variety of standing postures like mountain pose, triangle pose, revolved triangle pose, crescent pose, warrior pose I, warrior pose II, warrior pose III, chair pose I, chair pose II, wide legged forward bend, standing forward bend, evolved side angle pose, downward facing dog, standing side stretch pose, sun salutation, tree pose, hands to feet pose, stand spread leg forward pose, and half moon pose.
- Seated Poses – Different types of yoga postures can be performed sitting. Practice a variety of seated poses like lotus pose, hero pose, easy pose, spread leg forward fold, child pose, seated forward bend, garland pose, ankle rotation, ankle bending, wrist bending, full boat pose and hand clenching.
- Twist Poses – Smoothly and gently perform the entire twist pose and avoid any jerks or rapid movements while performing these twists. Sage twist pose and half spinal twist pose are well known twist poses.
- Supine Poses – Lying on your back or in supine position and performing yoga is the essential of supine poses. Different types of supine poses include leg to side yoga pose, leg pulls, single leg raises, double leg raises, leg reclining lunge, and wind releasing pose.
- Back Bends – Back bend poses are performed mainly to improve the backbone strength and flexibility. You may try wheel pose, bow pose, fish pose, locust pose, bridge pose, cobra pose and dog pose.
- Finishing Poses – Corpse pose and final corpse pose should be the poses to cap off your asana sessions.
