Yoga for Gastritis

Some time ago I wrote about having to go for tests. This was on account of things not going too well with my tummy. Also, I was fast shedding weight. After a series of tests in a clinic last Monday (that I felt terribly dramatic about especially since the dietician said it was rightly so because a colonoscopy is quite an ‘invasive procedure’, and he knew well, having examined lots of patients) I got the rather disappointing results on Wednesday.

The doctor confirmed my worst fears; told me it was ‘gastritis’. I asked my friend Peter Jameson plenty of questions. Really, I wanted to know the connection between this word refers and the small ulcers that line my whole stomach. He says that this is on account of excess acid being produced in the stomach.

This was exasperating since I’m absolutely aware that I’m stressed. I’ve been doing all I possibly can to deal with it. This includes from Yoga retreats, daily yoga asanas and breathing exercises, to unburdening as much as possible on willing and unwilling pals (and wife!), to being absolutely frank not letting bitterness, anger or any sort of hatred or antipathy  build up towards anyone, to being grateful for the little things life has to offer.

My program of Yoga includes:

Baddha Konasana
Prasarita Padottanasana Supta Virasana
Supta Baddha Konasana
Supta Padangusthasana
Uttanasana
Pawanmuktasana
Utthita Trikonasana

Kapalabhatti
Anuloma Viloma
Suryabhedana
Bhastrika

Worked wonders for me in 3 weeks. Suggest you try it yourself!
