Yoga For Asthmatics

Some food for thought; it is a fact that we are living in the space age. Life has become faster for all. We do not have time to follow our natural life cycles of work and rest according to the day and season and other factors, as our grand parents and other elders did. It has become very hard to livyoe and lead a natural life, because of the state of the world in which we are living. The very air we breathe is becoming unfit for human consumption.

I used to believe Yoga was for sissies. However I started for health reasons and found it is not. I've been practicing Yoga for decades now and am actually sorry I didn't start earlier. Yoga, I now have come to realize, is one of the best activities. I continue to progress and have intensified my practices. I highly recommend Yoga. That is...if you want to stay younger and healthier longer.

Here are the Yoga poses I would recommend that help you feel better and take control of Asthma. Believe me, it helped me ages ago, and still continues to help. Not a trace of asthma, bronchitis or any other illness since one year after I started serious practices 30 years ago. I am now 50.

Breathing exercises for Asthma

To help strengthen the lungs and reduce mucus congestion use Kapalabhati, practicing it very slowly and gently in short durations. For stress and emotional upsets use Nadi Sodhana, for asthma triggered by cold air practice Ujjayi and Suryabhedana Pranayamas. Sitali Pranayama can avoid allergic triggers.

According to Yoga, a calm mind produces regular breathing and a relaxed body. So, breathing exercises can definitely help people with Asthma and Bronchitis.
