Despite the popular (or should I call it unpopular) misconception, I’ve found, from years of experience with myself and my children, poor hygiene and poor diet are not the causes of acne. And I’m not here to debate and discuss the hows and whys of it. All I know is that it happens and can be got rid of the way it came.
First of all, I’d say, stop getting all worked up. For God’s sakes, it’s only a skin problem, not a cancer or something! And, believe me, Yoga can help. Continue what your physician or dermatologist advises, but I’d say supplement the treatment with alternative therapies like Yoga.
A series of cleansing and breathing techniques together with asanas help increase blood flow to your face, flushing away toxins and providing nutrients to your skin. I would recommend a daily routine of the following practices as Yoga for acne:
Cleansing techniques:
- Tree pose with hands stretched overhead
- Sitting head to knees pose
- Seated half fish pose
- Child pose
- Cobra pose
- Kapalabhatti
- Anuloma Viloma
- Sitali or Shitkari
Other remedies for acne, I know, work wonders if you use them the way I did on myself and with my kids.
Juice Therapy: Works best on account of its high levels of hemoglobin. Try using a blend of one part beet juice, three parts carrot juice and two parts green leafy vegetable juice. This helps cleanse the system and stimulate the liver.
Aromatherapy: Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic that is gentle to the skin and speeds the healing of blemishes. A single drop applied directly to the blemish after cleansing works wonders.
Above all, take it easy, dont be in any hurry. Dont think you can wish away the problem just like abracadabra. Give yourself a little time, practice patiently and, believe me, you’ll be spanking new, like Jack Robinson.
But first of all, stop getting worked up!
