Does Yoga Lead To Weight Loss, Give Some Tips
Yoga helps you to control your mind and body and makes you calmer and relaxed so that you control your nervous eating habits, which is one of the main reasons for excessive weight gain. Irregular eating habits, stress, lack of exercise, thyroid problems, etc can also lead to excess weight gain. A healthy way to lose weight is to maintain a healthy lifestyle and stick to a disciplined regular exercise routine. The following three types of yoga have been beneficial in weight loss:
- Ashtanga Yoga: This is a very vigorous form of yoga and requires a lot of enthusiasm and patience. It is the best way to lose weight in a healthy manner.
- Power Yoga: This is the modified version of the traditional yoga that gives you an extremely vigorous cardio workout to lose weight quickly.
Hot Yoga or Vinyasa is done in a hot room. This makes you lose more calories as you also sweat a lot while doing the asanas or yoga poses.
Some of the techniques used in yoga for weight loss are:
- Kunjal Kriya Or The Stomach Wash And Lung Cleansing – Kunjal kriya means drinking water like an elephant and then throwing it out quickly. It involves drinking 7 to 8 glasses of water with half a teaspoon of salt added to it. And then you belch it all out forcibly. This cleanses the food pipe, strong acids in the stomach and is also very good for people suffering from asthma.
- Basti Or The Colon Cleansing – This process involves introducing certain oils, herbal liquids and or milk through the anus in order to clean the colon. This treatment should only be done by a qualified and experienced yoga master.
- Laghu Shankh Prakshalana or the digestive system cleansing technique helps to clean the intestines and the digestive system and gives a healthy glow to your skin as well.
- Baghi or the tiger exercise is so called because the tiger belches out all the excess food, which makes him stronger. This helps to thoroughly cleanse your system and helps in better absorption of healthy nutrients. It also helps you to achieve a better body and skin.
Yoga poses like the Surya Namaskar or the sun salutation, Adho Mukha Shavasana or the downward facing dog, Bhujangasana or the cobra pose, Vrikshasana or the tree pose, Sarvangasana or the whole body pose, Virabhadrasana or the warrior, Natrajasana or the king dancer pose, Sahaj Vyagrasana or Half Crane Pose, etc help to build the core strength, lose weight and tone the body.
