How To Get Rid Of Obesity Through Yoga
Yoga can play a very important role if you wish to treat Obesity successfully and effectively. Yogic techniques affect your body, your internal organs, the endocrine glands, your brain and mind, not to mention several other factors relating to the body–mind complex. There are a number of Yoga techniques which you can practice, to effectively shed those excess pounds and return to a normal healthy weight. In fact, the regular practice of Yoga has proven itself effective in reducing weight within a period of just thirty days. While a lot of people are credulous or skeptical about its weight loss power, the fact is it is true.
Practicing a regular set of asanas (physical poses) and pranayamas (breathing exercises) together with Kriyas (cleansing techniques) and a Yogic diet are very beneficial to all, particularly to those suffering from obesity. The advantages of these practices are numerous. They bring the body into harmony and good health, help enhance memory and improve eyesight as well as concentration. Yoga can be practiced both indoors and outdoors and is not even remotely restrictive. Individuals of any age group from children to the aged can practice this discipline.
Asanas:
Asanas (physical Yoga poses) are particularly helpful in reducing body from the various parts, mainly through the twisting, forward bending and backward bending poses. They help eliminate the fat deposits around the region of the hips, abdomen and thighs. The regular practice of Yoga poses even improves the working of the internal organs. They help strengthen the lungs, heart, kidneys and the excretory & reproductive organs. Some of the Yogasanas (poses) should be practiced slowly and others dynamically for good effects. Likewise, you may increase the length of time for maintaining the asana and repetitions according to your own pace, strength and stamina.
Most recommended for obesity are the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) Paschimottanasana (Seated hands to feet pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra pose), Viparita Karani (Inverted Legs against wall pose) Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand), Halasana (Plough Pose), Dhanurasana (Bow pose), Virasana (Warrior pose), Trikonasana (Triangle pose), and Ardha Matsyendrasana (Half Lord of the fish pose). Sun salutations are most helpful in obesity management. You can do up to 24 sun salutations everyday at a speed of 4 rounds per minute. These will give you great benefits.
Pranayamas:
Pranayamas (breathing exercises) are extremely important Yoga practices that help you control and extend your Prana (Vital energy or Life force). I terms of physiology, Pranayama is classified into two types: Hyper ventilation or relaxing pranayama and Hypo ventilation or vitalizing Pranayama.
Fast breathing, Kapalbhati and Bhastrika are classified as Hyper-ventilation they help increase Oxygen and reduce carbon dioxide levels. Deep breathing, Bhramari, Shitali, Sitkari come under Hypo ventilation. Here the oxygen levels mostly remain the same but the heart rate is lower like the speed of respiration. All these are recommended for obesity management.
Cleansing Techniques:
You should learn and practise Shankha Prakshalana (Master cleansing) Agnisar (Fast movement of the Digestive tract) in any reliable Yoga institute. These will help cleanse your body of toxins and burn excess fat.
Yoga Diet:
Ideally you should have more fruits, salads, and liquids to help balance the intake of your food. Reduce your intake of refined and highly processed foods, fast foods and non vegetarian fare.
