Pregnancy can be one of the most delightful experiences of a woman life. However, it can be a bit stressful too, in case the woman suffers from any severe pregnancy symptoms, like morning sickness, dizziness, nausea, tenderness in the breasts and so on. Moreover, it is not uncommon for a woman to develop complications during pregnancy. While some of these complications are caused by uncontrollable factors and cannot be prevented, there are others, which can be avoided completely, by following a few simple pregnancy health tips.

It is very easily for women to get tips on pregnancy care, right from early pregnancy health tips, till the last trimester. However, before using any of the pregnancy health tips that you hear, it is important for you to ensure that it is from a reliable source. Some of the most common pregnancy health tips suggested by doctors are:
- Getting at least 8 hours of sleep every night, along with a nap and a few breaks throughout the day
- Staying calm and free of stress, by practicing various techniques, which may include deep breathing, meditation, yoga or even massages.
Pregnancy nutrition tips
Food plays a very important part in a pregnancy, as can determine the baby’s health before birth. Therefore, pregnancy nutrition tips set down by a doctor should be followed to the tee. Some of the common pregnancy nutrition tips are:
- Eating small, but frequent meals throughout the day, preferably after every two hours
- Including a fruit and a vegetable in every meal, so that at least 4 to 5 serving of fruits and around 3 to 4 servings of vegetables are consumed in a day. Protein is very important for the growth of the baby and therefore, at least one serving of pulses, beans, soy or chicken should be included in each meal.
- Drinking 10 or more glasses of water in the day
- Having at least 3 serving of dairy products throughout the day
Most women are asked to add supplements to their diet, to boost their nutrient intake. However, such supplements should only be taken after being prescribed by the doctor.
Pregnancy safety tips
Unfortunately, around 20% of all pregnancies result in a miscarriage, within the first trimester. While a miscarriage cannot be avoided in some instances, their risks can be reduced, by following certain pregnancy safety tips, such as:
- Avoiding caffeine
- Getting rid of unhealthy habits like smoking or drinking alcohol
- Avoiding exposure to any chemicals, that could harm the pregnancy or the baby
- Staying away from raw foods, soft cheese and herbal products
Pregnancy fitness tips
It is important for most pregnant women to get at least half an hour of exercise each day. Some of the exercises that have been recommended for pregnant women are walking, swimming, Yoga and Pilates. However, some of these exercises could have an adverse effect on the baby and therefore, it is important to check with a doctor, before trying out any of them.
While the different pregnancy health tips mentioned above are relatively safe for most pregnant women, they may not necessarily be applicable to all women, especially in case there are any complications. Therefore, it is best to consult a doctor and get an approval, before trying any pregnancy health tips.
