There are two main factors that influence the development of obesity in an individual - an unhealthy diet as well as a lack of adequate exercise that will serve to help burn the excess fat cells in the body. An unhealthy diet is extremely common in today's fast paced lifestyle - with a number of people resorting to the convenience of fast foods such as burgers and hot dogs that contain none of the vitamins, nutrients and minerals that the body requires but are packed with empty calories that simply add themselves onto the fat tissues of the body. Running is considered to be one of the most effective and simple ways of shedding those extra pounds. With the intensity of the sport directly equaling the amount of fat lost, speed running is probably the most effective type of running and makes sure that your muscle groups are worked intensely.

One of the biggest advantages of speed running is the fact that the sport does not require any significant investment in gear and as long as you get yourself a good pair of running shoes and find a good running trail, you can start whenever you like. Speed running is more effective than other variants of the same sport such as speed jogging and speed walking because of the fact that its higher intensity also ensures that your respiratory tract muscles and breathing patterns are fine tuned. There are a number of speed running workouts and speed running tips available at speed running enthusiast websites on the internet, while information can also be found in the sports section of your local book store. While developing a persons speed seems simply nothing more than developing the leg muscles, the feat is actually achieved by ensuring that the brain and nervous system are developed simultaneously as they play a prominent role in the performance of an individuals speed running.
