The shoes you wear for your running workouts should have sufficient cushioning. Running on the road can put stress on your bones and can lead to injury, hence the need for cushioning in your shoes.

You should begin your running workout program slowly and gradually increase the intensity. Before you begin your running workout make sure to perform some warm-up and stretching exercises. This will allow your muscles and tendons to stretch easily and reduce chances of injury. After you've completed your warm-up, you could combine jogging and walking in the beginning of your running workout program. You should make a running workout plan so that you can progress gradually and maintain a regular workout. For the first week, you could run for 15 to 20 minutes. Once you get comfortable running for this length of time, you can add 5 to 10 minutes to your running workout for the next week. As your body gets adapted to the workout, you can keep adding time each week till you're satisfied with the amount of exercise.

A treadmill workout tends to be easier on the joints and runs a less risk of injury as the surface is softer than the road. A treadmill workout is very convenient as it can be done indoors and the effects of weather and traffic are eliminated. You could start your treadmill workouts with a slow walk for 1 to 2 minutes to warm-up your muscles. You can then increase the pace till your breathing starts to get heavy. Maintain the pace till your breath gets steady again, and then you can continue to increase the pace. You could also make use of the incline function to increase the intensity of your treadmill workouts. The bicycle is considered a great ab workout as it uses all the muscles in your abs to develop a lean and strong torso. The plank is another great ab workout that exercises your obliques and lower part of your abs.

For you to see effective results, you must perform the exercises regularly. It is also essential that you maintain a well-balanced diet that will complement your exercises. A proper diet will provide you the energy that you require to perform the exercises and give you a healthy and fit body. Keep in mind that you should consult your doctor before starting on any work out program, so as to avoid injuries and health risks.
