In order to know how to increase running endurance and speed which is extremely critical in sports such as soccer, tennis, football, running etc one should take up exercises to increase running speed which involves both speed drills as well as resistance training. Exercises to increase running speed include lunges which tend to work on the larger muscle groups namely the hamstrings and the quads. Similarly one may also perform hamstrings curls to increase their walking speed as these exercises help in working out the glutes and the hamstrings which are present at the back and the side of the hips. Another one of the exercises to increase running endurance and speed is to run in deep sand as this will tend to engage the bulky muscles of the calves which are the soleus and the gastrocnemius. This form of running in the sand will also result in additional power in the glutes and the abs. Another way to known how to increase running endurance is to stand in the shallow end of a swimming pool and then try to run across the width of the pool through the water. This form of training should be repeated at least seven to ten times for the initial two rounds. One should also time themselves so as to know if there was any improvement in their performance. Another tip to increase running speed as well as walking speed is to try and get rid off any excess fat or weight and maintain a lean body mass which is not slowed down by dead weight in the form of excessive fat. In addition to the various exercises to increase running speed one should also allow the body to get as much rest as required so as to rebuild the energy levels for the next workout. Additionally one should also pay attention to their diet and nutrition which should be rich in fresh fruits and vegetable and other natural whole foods rather than sugary or oily foods.
