Replace them if you find the soles of your shoes worn out. This is because the insufficient cushioning will put pressure on the joints and lead to injury.

Increasing the speed of your running workouts will make you a better runner. After maybe a month of doing the same workout your body will tend to adapt to it and you won't be receiving the same benefits as when you started. By changing your running workouts every three to four weeks you will be able to see improvements. Track workouts are very effective in improving your speed and performance. Practicing track workouts, also known as speed workouts, will enable you to reach your potential. In a week you should practice them once and rest the following day to allow the body to recover. The idea of these workouts is that the faster you run for shorter distances the more your body's aerobic capacity will be increased. This will cause more efficient burning of oxygen and enable you to run at a faster rate for a certain distance.

Treadmill workouts are very convenient as they can be done indoors and unsuitable weather will not be a problem. Before you start any treadmill workouts you should begin with a warm-up. Your muscles and tendons will need to loosen up so that they can easily stretch without snapping. You could start your workout with a slow walk for about a minute. Then gradually increase the speed till your breathing becomes heavy. Wait for your breathing to get regular again and continue to increase the speed. Making use of the incline function is an effective way to increase the intensity of your treadmill workouts. If you're a beginner to the treadmill, you could use the inbuilt programs that are available to get you started.

Running training programs are also used as an important part of sports fitness. Most sports involve plenty of running for which you will need good stamina and endurance. Including running to training routines will help develop your body and supply the requirements of an endurance activity.
