Selecting the right kind of clothes and shoes is important. Your clothes should be comfortable and appropriate for the weather conditions. Your shoes should also be comfortable and of a good quality. It is important to warm up before exercising. You may warm up for about 5 to 10 minutes as this will prepare your muscles for more activity. You may include some simple stretching exercises into your warm-up routine. If you are a beginner, start walking slowly and for shorter distances. Try not to exert yourself too much. Gradually you can increase your distance and duration of walking. One must maintain proper posture and gait while walking. Keep the back erect and swing the arms while you walk. There are also certain devices available which help to monitor the heart rate and intensity of the exercise. Keep your fitness goals realistic and avoid comparing yourself with other experienced walkers.
A vital aspect of any weight loss exercise program is motivation and dedication. Make it a point to adhere your walking regimen every day. While walking, cast aside all tensions and unnecessary thoughts. You can also involve a friend in your walking exercise program. Along with giving you the company, it will also make you more accountable. When your walk is ending, reduce your pace till you come to a halt. Also perform stretching exercises in order to prevent muscle cramps. If you are consistent and sincere in your efforts, you will begin to see results in time.
