...on our feet, walking about, trying to get from one place to another. Walking around with shoes that are not proper could cause health problems like increased stress levels, blisters, fatigue, foot injuries and backaches. Therefore, it is important to choose a style and fit that is the most apt for your feet, before buying a pair of shoes. Walking shoes for men and women are different. Most men wear dress shoes that do not really fit properly, without facing any problems. However, if men walk for a long duration of time, without properly fitted walking shoes, they could face a lot of problems that are mainly related to the feet, legs and back. Therefore, it is important to get your walking shoes properly fitted, by a shoe-fitting expert. Given below are some basic guidelines that could help choose walking shoes for men that could also be appropriate for you:

  • Choose a heel that is low and supportive. Thick heels or the ones that flare could cause the foot to slap down on the ground, rather than roll. The possibility of sore shins could occur, because of the poor fit
  • Good walking shoes should have a flexible sole, because it causes the foot's heel to hit the ground first, before rolling from the heel to the toe. Before buying a shoe, twist and bend the toe area a bit, to check for flexibility
  • When trying out a shoe, for size, make sure that your foot has adequate room in the toe area. There should be a gap of about half an inch between the toes and the shoe. Wriggle to toes to see if there is enough room to move them about freely. Make sure that the shoe neither pinches nor binds your foot, especially the arch and the ball of the feet
  • When you go shoe shopping carry with you a pair of socks that you would otherwise normally wear. This would help you to make a more perfect choice when choosing your shoes
