Sciatica pain is one of the most annoying ailments that occur to people everywhere. This ailment is not connected to a specific place, gender, or even age. Although sciatica is more prevalent in women, it is a problem for men too.

The causes of sciatica may be mental or physical and because of that some doctors prepare some psychological tests for sciatica patients because the nerve problem may be caused from the brain. If the cause is diagnosed as physical, then you have to choose between two sciatica treatments, herbal remedies and the medications. Although medication is readily available for this ailment, many people prefer to resort to more natural remedies for sciatica.

The medications can be divided into muscle relaxants and pain killers. The only thing you need to do is to go to the doctor to determine the right diagnosis for your case.

Yoga is one of the best treatments for sciatic nerve problems. The best thing about yoga is that irrespective of the cause, you can get the right treatment through yoga. Yoga is a combination of the mental and the physical healing powers of the body. The right synchronization between these two different parts allows for prompt relief of sciatica symptoms.

The different yogic poses or asanas can be of great benefit for sciatica patients. When you are able to perform these poses you will be able to overcome the pain. One of these poses start with sitting with legs extended in front of you and your back straight. Put your arms beside your body and palms facing down. Press using your hands downward and repeat this several times. Sciatica and pregnancy are two faces of one coin. When the baby gets bigger in the last months of pregnancy it more likely to press on the sciatic nerve causing your leg to stiffen and induce pain while moving. Even if you are pregnant you can practice certain poses that can heal your sciatic syndrome. Be careful when choosing the yogic asanas to perform while you are pregnant because not all the poses are suitable for pregnant women.

Consult your doctor before you start practicing yoga and let him help you to decide what poses to perform. Start off slowly and perform only the easy poses and do not stay for a long time in the pose. Increase your stamina, strength, and flexibility gradually, before you move into the more advanced poses.
